1925 Rickenbacker Brougham - Dealers Sales Brochure - Form #120-A (1)
The sales brochure comes complete with the dealerships stamp on it in the lower right-hand corner, and a hand written price of the car shown here in the upper left. The first picture was touched up to cover the holes from bugs that had chewed on this, you can see the holes in the second picture though.
There were two styles of Brougham's built; ones with a vertical oval windows on the rear side (like this one), and ones with an angled oval window on the rear side.

1926 Rickenbacker Brougham - L.A. Examiner Newspaper April 28th (1)
These two pictures were taken from the Los Angeles Examiner, Sunday April 17th, 1926. The story in the paper explained how a weekend trip with a Rickenbacker "8" was in Sequoia National Park. The Rickenbacker was sent out by the Western Auto Company & Sperl Motor Car Company to try out the new roads which were almost completed through and around the park. The roads were widen to 20' wide and the steep 17% grades were shaved down to 8%. You now could drive through the park without having to take the car out of high gear. It was noted at the end of the article how well the Rickenbacker "8" drove through the park. It also stated the impressive amount of power the Rickenbacker 8 cylinder had compared to other cars.

1926 Rickenbacker Brougham - Norris Sletten (Son of Owner) (1)
This is a 1926 Rickenbacker 4 door Brougham which was purchased new by my dad, Ole M. Sletten. He resided at Wegdahl, MN at the time. The vehicle was driven until about 1941 at which time it was retired to wither away in our back yard for a couple years. While it sat there I became proficient at shifting gears, working the clutch, operating the push/pull ignition switch, and going vroom, varoom, etc. It was then scrapped and went into the war effort. I was born in 1932, but still remember lots of things about that old car. Norris Sletten
***Editor/Webmaster note: What is wrote above is Norris's exact words. So many times we find pictures of old cars and that’s all that is left, the picture. The story behind the picture is gone, lost forever. Here’s a story that’s not going to be lost!!! Also note Norris was around 10 years old when he was playing in that car, a memory that he has never forgotten. Along with the memory is the name of that car he played in. Even as a kid the name Rickenbacker was very well known and never forgotten!!!***

1926 Rickenbacker Super Sport Coupe (1)
The first two pictures are of the famed 1926 Super Sport Coupe. There is only one of these cars still left today, check out the Surviving Rickenbacker page for more details and pictures of it. These cars were sold as the fastest car on the market that would carry four people. There were much faster cars out there, but none of those could carry more than two people. Also notice the "cycle" fenders on the front of the car; they turn with the wheels.
